We'll always have Paris

We'll always have Paris... Oh, sorry, I meant we'll always have the BBC. The thing is that some times we teachers get a little bit obsessed with finding resources for our students that help them improve their English and give them a good excuse to keep in touch with English in their free time.

We don't have to go a long way to find a huge bank of BBC radio programmes in the learning English section of their site. The programmes are organised in categories: People and Places, Entertainment, London Life and Weekender. Within each of these categories there is a large number of programmes on a wide variety of topics.

Most of these programmes have an introduction with some general comprehension questions to listen for, vocabulary with definitions and explanations, the audio file to listen to the programme and the script for the programme too, which can be downloaded so that we can listen to them on our mobile phone or MP4 on our way to work or while we're jogging.

BBC radio programmes should be a top priority for students preparing for an exam at an intermediate or higher level, like the EEOOII exam.
